My name is Jennifer Lees. I'm from Ossining, New York and have lived in Portland, Oregon for the past seven years. I live with my amazing husband Matt and our adorable cat named Olive. I make handcrafted collage greeting cards inspired by antique postcards, photos, buttons, glass, maps and stamps. I come from a long line of pack rats, and have always saved random trinkets that caught my eye over the years. I love antique shops, thrift stores, garage sales. Basically any excuse to peruse old, dusty relics from forgotten days!
Collage started as a desire to make art out of my collection of antique stamps, buttons, and post cards from the early 20th century. It was a perfect way for me to combine my passion for art and collage with my love of old, rare prints and mementos that I've collected. I have always loved working with mixed mediums and making cards just seemed like a perfect, functional way to share my artwork with others.
My handmade and printed cards were so successful as gifts to friends and family that I was inspired to pursue my dream of being a professional artist and owning my own business. I named and dedicate my business "Mimi Muse Designs" after my recently deceased grandmother Mimi, who was an amazing artist and painter. She was my creative muse, my hero, and the reason I pursued art in the first place! |
